Delaney gazed at the ring, holding it up so it caught the afternoon sun streaming in the window behind her. A sunbeam refracted in the diamond, sending splinters of luminescent light dancing on the wall near the fireplace. She released a long breath then pinned Klayne with an angry glare.
“How could you? How could you buy the most perfect ring I’ve ever clapped my eyes on and ask to marry me with such a pathetic, stupid, horrid proposal. No, I won’t marry you just so you can go off and get yourself killed. Don’t be an idiot!” The length of several heartbeats passed as she glowered at him. His eager look of expectation wilted into one of wounded surprise.
Finally, she leaned forward and kissed his cheek, softening her harsh tone. “If you can come up with a better, more compelling, convincing reason for me to marry you, I might change my answer.”

Every animal can talk to you. You just have to know how to listen.

Pepper Neely is better at this than most, especially because she is in charge of pet sitting all the familiars in her neighborhood. A familiar is a pet magically linked to a witch or warlock. As a gnome, Pepper is no stranger to spells and sorcery. She also knows that, despite their special name, familiars aren’t all that different from regular animals. They get anxious when separated from their people, so Pepper uses her special gnome powers to calm them down. She watches Cranky the high-strung ferret, Frank the laid-back parrot, King Arthur the elderly tortoise, and many others.
Then, something terrible begins happening to the familiars. Someone is stealing their magic! It not only prevents Pepper from communicating with them but breaks their magical connection with their people. When King Arthur’s magic is stolen, his owner’s powers stop working too. Pepper can sense that the tortoise is very scared.
In order to protect the animal's magic, Pepper decides to track down the culprit. With the help of her best friend, Luna, and her brother, Jax, Pepper fights to protect all of the special pets.

Release Blitz ~ The Beauty of Chaos by Liz Monroe

Title: The Beauty of Chaos
Author: Liz Monroe
Genre: New Adult
Publisher: Blue Tulip Publishing

Is it better to be whole and love or can you be broken together?

I needed something new.
Somewhere new.
I couldn’t live in the city my mom died in, knowing that the only family I had left hated me.
So I left.
It was selfish but I did it to protect my heart. I ran away from a city of heartbreak to one where I could start fresh. A new job a few states away was the opportunity I needed and I took it with hopes of rebuilding my life while healing.
I didn’t think I would meet anyone.
I didn’t think I would give my heart away.
I didn’t think I could risk breaking all over again.
But I did meet someone. I met him.
And I did give my heart away.
But this time I got to decide, let the love break me or accept that sometimes there’s beauty in chaos.

The dirty dishes were in the sink, our stomachs were full, and we were somewhere past drunk. I sat on the couch with my legs resting over Mason’s lap. He grabbed my foot and started rubbing it. I took another sip of wine. By that time, I’d stopped counting how many glasses I’d had.
We’d talked about everything and nothing as we always had. My head rested against the armrest, but when I brought it back up, I saw a change in Mason’s eyes. He had a strong gaze that I felt over each spot his eyes traced. Each pass over me flared with heat. When his eyes finally met mine again, I felt another flood of heat that encompassed my entire body and ended in my stomach. We held onto the tension for a moment.
“Dance with me.” He grabbed my hand and guided me up and into the kitchen.
“I might wobble more than dance.” I giggled at the loose feeling that came with being tipsy.
“I’ve got you.” He held me close, my hand in his as it rested on his chest.
I rested my head against him.
“I don’t think I’ve told you how stunning you look tonight.”
“I think you’ve only said it every other minute,” I said, because he had told me just that many times as we ate.
I wrapped my hands behind his neck.
He brought his lips to the top of my head and started to sing. It was quiet at first, a whisper, just for me.
I bit my lip. I may have been drunk on wine, but I was intoxicated by him.
He could actually sing. I hadn’t known that about him before, and once again, I felt myself falling deeper. I looked up at him while he sang. He didn’t take his eyes away from me, and I hung onto every word.
I pulled him in as he finished the song. I couldn’t kiss him fast enough. I tried so hard to show him how much I felt for him with my lips. His hands on my bare skin just below the hemline of my dress, he grabbed onto my legs then pulled them up. I wrapped them around him in response. He brought me over to the couch and lowered me slowly. Our kiss deepened.
“I can’t.”

Blog Tour & Review ~ The Scandal of it All - The Rogue Files by Sophie Jordan

It
takes two to make a scandal…

THE SCANDAL OF IT ALL
The Rogue Files #2
Sophie Jordan
Releasing July 25, 2017
Avon Books

It takes two to make a scandal…
What kind of woman ventures into London’s most notorious pleasure club? An outsider like Graciela, the Duchess of Autenberry, snubbed time and time again by society because of her Spanish roots. Ela longs to take a lover for a single, wild night, and within
the walls of Sodom there are gentlemen to suit every forbidden taste. If only she were not so drawn to the smoldering Lord Strickland…a dangerous man who sees beyond her mask, and could ruin her reputation with a mere whisper.

Lord Strickland never permitted himself to fantasize about the sultry, off-limits lady, but then he never expected to find Ela in a place so wicked, looking for what he’s more than too happy to give. She may not be to the ton’s taste, but she suits him perfectly. First, however, he must convince her to trust in this dangerous desire—and in the promise of forever unleashed by one wild, scandalous night.

“This is no place for you.”

She bristled. She imagined he would not say the same thing to a man her age. Was she so very old and matronly that he did not think she had any right to be here?

Undoubtedly he consigned her to a certain category in his mind. A certain sexless category tantamount to nuns and grandmothers.

“I’ve every right to be here—”

“Oh, do you? Well, if you feel so very entitled to be here, then by all means, step out into that corridor and greet your stepson.”

His words struck her like a slap.

He moved away from the door, grasped the latch and started to pull it open.
She squeaked and threw herself against him, flattening him into the door and shutting it again with a swift thud.

“No! Don’t do that.” Her breath escaped in hard pants that got lost somewhere in the vicinity of his chest. That’s how tall he was. Her nose was directly level with his throat. Even in the shadows she could detect the thrumming pulse at his throat. Taller than average herself, she had always appreciated a tall man.

Her gaze flicked up to his eyes. He watched her, holding himself utterly still. Against her. Bodies flush. Hearts beating in cadence.

It was unnerving to say the least . . . and yet for the life of her she couldn’t step back and peel herself off him. She couldn’t stop staring into those pale gray-blue eyes that looked at her with angry emotion—another first. He’d always been so polite and proper with her. A perfectly circumspect gentleman.

His fierce expression and intense eyes mesmerized her. She moistened her lips and his gaze followed the movement. The blue of his eyes seemed to darken a shade—or maybe it was simply the dim lighting of the room? His stare dropped even lower.

A quick glance down reminded her of the indecent cut of her gown. Pressed against him like this, the tops of her breasts swelled above the neckline. She felt the heat of her blush start in her face and then watched as red crept downward over her dusky mounds.

Involuntarily, her nipples pebbled inside her corset.

She gasped. Even though he couldn’t know and he couldn’t possibly feel her body’s betrayal (with him of all men!), she lurched back.

Now, with a few feet of space between them, their gazes locked for an interminable moment. Her heart beat harder and faster in her too-tight chest. A chest that only seconds ago pressed intimately against him. Her nipples still throbbed, as though she still felt the pressure of his body against her.

At the thought of his body, she raked him with a quick glance, imagining that hard body of his . . . the pressure of it covering her—She reined in her scandalous imagination with a firm yank.

The heat scoring her cheeks burned hotter. She inhaled. It was simply being here, in this house of iniquity, that made her think such wholly unacceptable thoughts. About Lord Strickland, of all people. He was her stepson’s best friend—a longtime family friend. Even if he weren’t too young for her (and he was!), he was absolutely inappropriate as a candidate for dalliances.

It was not only unseemly . . . It was perverse of her to even entertain such notions. He would likely be horrified if he knew.

Huge 5 Teacups for Sophie Jordan's The Scandal of it All! Wow, what an amazing tale and ladies, be sure to crank up the air or get out a fan because you're going to need it for this book! The passion is on fire! I absolutely loved this tale, first of all, this is so very different from what we see in normal Historical Romance, this is so witty, deeply sensual and passionate and a very different type of situation. We have an older woman, which I love seeing more tales about women in their late 30's and early-mid 40's, it shows that no matter what age, you can always find love or re-find love. So back on track, our heroine Graciela, the Duchess of Autenberry is widowed and her prior marriage was a flop. She was often treated poorly and lets put it this way, the bedroom was a rather dull place for the duchess. So after a dear friend's funeral, she and her other friend are having tea on this dreary cold, winter day and her friend talks about going to Sodom; a brothel, which Graciela has always dreamed of something different and spicy in the bedroom, but has never ventured into it.

So she decided to go along with her friend just to sit back and watch... and learn. So hidden behind a mask, she finds herself in a bit of a pickle as two men try to take advantage of her, seeing her predicament, Lord Strickland comes to her aid. She tried to keep herself from talking as her accent would give herself away, so whilst in the care of Lord Stickland, she see's her son-in-law, the Duke of Autenberry and she's so ashamed that he'll recognize her. She finally opens up and reveals herself to Lord Strickland whose a bit shocked she's who she is, Lady Autenberry and in such a place. So he helps disguise her and keep the Duke from advancing on her. Through a series of events, passion ignites within Lord Strickland and he begins falling for the Duchess and a craving to fulfill her every wicked fantasy.

Such a wonderful tale, so deeply written. Great characterization and the plot is filled with twists and turns at every turn of the page and oh, yes, the pages are ablaze with sensual passion! This is one you'll want to add to your library for sure!
